Prayer Built Around What Is In Your Heart
Every Catholic carries intentions into prayer — the people who need support, the decisions that require wisdom, the burdens that need surrendering to God.
Devotio's Personal Oratory takes those intentions and builds a complete prayer session around them, drawing from Scripture, the saints, and traditional prayers to create something genuinely personal to your circumstances.
No two sessions need ever be the same, because no two days are.
Personal Oratory
A Quick Session When Time Is Short
Choose your intentions, and Devotio builds a complete prayer session in under a minute - recommending saints, Scripture, and prayers matched to your situation. For the mornings when five minutes is all there is, but those five minutes matter.
A Deeper Session When You Have the Space
When you want to go further, the full Oratory builder walks you through four steps:
Offer your intentions
Choose the virtues and themes that speak to where you are
Invoke the saints
Enrich your session with Scripture, prayers, litanies, and devotions.
The result is a prayer experience shaped entirely around what matters most to you.
Rooted in the Wisdom of the Church
The Church has spent two thousand years developing a rich spiritual tradition to help souls grow closer to Christ.
Devotio brings many of these treasures together in one place.

Intentions Diptych
Carry the People You Love Into Prayer
Named after the two-panelled prayer tablets of the early Church - the living on one side, the departed on the other - the Intentions Diptych is where you hold the people and situations closest to your heart.
Add them once, and Devotio weaves them into your prayer sessions, suggesting saints, prayers, and Scripture chosen for those specific circumstances.
Because of our zero-footprint architecture, your intentions remain entirely on your device, private to you and God alone.
Saints and Scripture
Let the Saints and Sacred Scripture Guide Your Prayer
165 Saints, each mapped to specific virtues, themes, and feast days - not a random catalogue, but a carefully curated guide to the holy men and women whose intercession speaks to your circumstances.
Devotio honours the liturgical year, recommending saints based on their feast days and the current season.
Over 1,000 Scripture passages, mapped to 38 themes across three Catholic translations: the Douay-Rheims for those rooted in tradition, the Catholic Public Domain Version for accessible modern English, and the Latin Vulgate for anyone who wants to read the same Bible the Church Fathers read. Choose your preferred translation for all prayers, Scripture, and litanies — switch at any time.
Traditional Catholic Devotions
A Complete Treasury of Catholic Prayer
The full Rosary - all twenty mysteries — bead by bead, with the traditional mystery-to-day calendar mapping or your own choice. The Stations of the Cross. Chaplets. Litanies in modern English, traditional English, and Latin. Novenas, including the Surrender Novena with your personal intentions woven in.
Every devotion can be layered into an active Rosary or Stations session, and flexible session lengths let you choose shorter or longer versions to suit the time you have.
Prayer Scheduling
Build a daily rhythm that fits your life.
Schedule any devotion — the Rosary, a novena, the Personal Oratory — as a one-off, a daily habit, or a nine-day series. Set reminders, and the app will meet you at the same time each day.
The liturgical calendar runs alongside your schedule through 2033, so feast days, seasons, and holy days naturally appear in your prayer life.
Pray daily through Advent, throughout Holy Week, or from now until Pentecost - the calendar keeps you in step with the Universal Church.
Daily Mass Readings
Powered by Universalis
Access the full Daily Mass Readings directly within your prayer session, provided through the Universalis webpage.
Devotio recognises your region and provides the specific readings and feast days for your local calendar - so whether you are in England, Ireland, the United States, or anywhere else, you are praying in step with your own diocese.
Whether at home or travelling, you remain perfectly synchronised with the global rhythm of the Church.
Save and Resume
Return to Prayer Exactly Where You Left Off
If your prayer is interrupted, Devotio automatically saves your place.
A notification on your home screen lets you resume later from the exact point where you paused - whether you are praying the Rosary, the Stations of the Cross, or a Personal Oratory session.
Life interrupts. Devotio keeps your place.
Prayer Journal
A Private Record of Every Prayer Offered. Every completed session is logged locally on your device, including the saints invoked, Scripture passages read, prayers offered, and intentions remembered.
Review your prayer history privately and reflect on your devotional rhythm over time.
Like everything else in Devotio, your journal never leaves your device.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No.
Your intentions, prayer journal, devotional history, and personal prayer sessions are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to us.
Devotio was built on the conviction that your interior life belongs to God, not to a server. We are architecturally incapable of seeing what you pray about.
-
Yes. The heart of Devotio - all prayers, devotions, Scripture, intentions, and features - is free, with no subscription, no premium tier, and no advertising.
Devotio is supported entirely by voluntary donations from those who are able and willing to give. If you are not in a position to donate, please simply use the app and pray for this work. Your prayers are every bit as valuable as any financial gift.
-
Devotio includes three Catholic Bible translations, each serving a different need:
The Catholic Public Domain Version (CPDV) - a modern English translation that is clear, accessible, and a natural starting point for anyone new to praying with Scripture.
The Douay-Rheims Bible - the traditional English Catholic translation, produced by English Catholic exiles in the late sixteenth century from the Latin Vulgate. The language the English-speaking Church has prayed with for centuries.
The Latin Vulgate - the same text the Church Fathers, the Councils, and the saints read. For anyone who wants to pray with Scripture in the language of the Church's tradition.
You can switch between translations at any time within the app.
-
The Personal Oratory is Devotio's prayer session builder. Rather than offering you a fixed list of content, it starts with you — your intentions, your circumstances, the themes that matter to you right now — and builds a session around them.
Choose a theme, add your intentions, and Devotio draws from its library of saints, prayers, and Scripture to create a prayer session that is genuinely personal to your situation. Every session is different because every day is different.
-
Devotio includes a wide range of traditional Catholic prayers and devotions:
The full Rosary — all twenty mysteries, or the traditional fifteen, bead by bead. The Stations of the Cross. Chaplets. Litanies in modern English, traditional English, and Latin. The Surrender Novena, with your personal intentions woven in. Traditional Catholic prayers including the Memorare, the Angelus, the Anima Christi, and many more.
All devotions can be added into active prayer sessions, and the app includes a liturgical calendar so your prayer life stays connected to the rhythm of the Church's year.
-
Yes - and this is one of the things that makes Devotio different.
The Intentions Diptych is inspired by the two-panelled prayer tablets used in the early Church: the names of the living on one side, the departed on the other, carried into every prayer. In Devotio, you add the people and situations you are holding — and the app weaves them into your sessions, suggesting prayers, saints, and Scripture that speak to those specific circumstances.
Your intentions remain on your device for as long as you keep them. They are never transmitted anywhere.
-
Yes. Every devotion and prayer type in Devotio can be scheduled - the Rosary, short rosaries, Stations of the Cross, chaplets, novenas, and the Personal Oratory. You can set daily reminders, build a series, and the app will integrate your schedule with the liturgical calendar so feast days and seasons appear alongside your own rhythm.
If life interrupts a session, Devotio remembers where you left off. A notification on the home screen lets you continue exactly where you were, whether you return in five minutes or five hours.
-
No, and it was never intended to be.
The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. Nothing replaces participation in the Mass, the sacraments, or time spent before the Blessed Sacrament.
Devotio exists to support your prayer life between those sacred encounters - to help you carry the grace of Sunday into the rest of the week. It is a companion for the journey, not a substitute for the destination.
-
Devotio was conceived and designed by one independent Catholic who wanted something faithful, private, and intentional. The production app was built with the help of a skilled Catholic engineer, engaged feature by feature to bring the vision to life.
It is built as an apostolate rather than a business. The prayers, the devotions, the Scripture, your intentions — free to use, and the heart of it always will be.
If Devotio helps one person develop a regular, meaningful prayer life, the work was worth it.
-
Yes. Devotio is available as a free download on both the App Store (iPhone and iPad) and Google Play (Android).
-
Not at present. Devotio is a text-based prayer app — the prayers, Scripture, and devotions are read rather than heard.
Audio is something we hope to offer in the future, subject to the donations that make further development possible.
If audio comes, it will be done properly: a single distinguished voice recording the prayers and Scripture in English and Latin, with sacred music as accompaniment - not guided meditation, not narrated sessions, but the tradition as it has always been heard.
For now, the silence is part of the intention. Prayer is a conversation, not a performance. Devotio gives you the words. The rest belongs to you and God.
